YET ANOTHER DAY
The night skies are getting brighter, our planet is getting warmer, as we sit spinning under the suns array;
With each rotation another sun rise is welcomed, by the start of yet another day.
Another solider is killed in action, just as another rain forest is falling;
Another flag will be used to cover the box, leaving yet another family in mourning.
Another day spins into history, whilst another child in the world cries from hunger pain;
Politian’s whisper “our country is in debt”,
Before spending £32 billion pound on another pointless train.
It’s only a matter of time before yet another animal becomes extinct,
Wiped forever from this planet by men;
Governments are so busy blaming each other, which has caused me to shout through this pen.
Another ice cap is melting, scientists warning our seas will still continue to rise;
Bank managers continue to fill their own pockets, just as another Cancer patient prepares their goodbyes.
Another stabbing, another shooting, yet another story for the paparazzi to plaster all over the news;
Another child in Africa tries to fight off their disease, but it’s a battle they were already destined to lose.
Another homeless shelter closes down, leaving our neighbours to make a cardboard house to hide their fate;
Another world is something we do not have,
So we need to act now before it’s too late.
Our children’s children will be those who suffer,
We aren’t moving forward, in fact we are taking a step back;
Instead society chooses to just hide, waiting for Mother Nature to attack.
Yet another child no longer believes in angels,
Just as another no longer listens out for Santa’s sleigh.
As the world spins into the darkness, the sinking sunset waves goodbye to
Yet another day.
